Mini concert

While we are really missing our Suzuki music programs in Virginia, the kids have adapted very well to a vastly different philosophy and style....I think that the Soviet trained musicians and the Suzuki method are polar opposites !!!!  Not a lot of "everyone can play" or "lets do the best you can and have fun" going on here!  Azalia and Hosiat have tamed down a little bit and the kids have come to realize that this is just another opportunity to do something differently than we are used to.

"CooCoo" by Grace- she has begun piano/music lessons with Hosiat

Grace singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"

piano duet with Hosiat, our piano teacher

A requirement for Azalia, our violin teacher,  before moving onto a new piece is to perform the pieces you are finishing with piano.  Luke is doing a small family concert to finish up Suzuki Book 1.

It is days like these that make all of the practicing, planning, scheduling, debating, and encouraging worth while....

  1. We miss our VA Suzuki studio too!! But we are getting ready for our own recital/group concert with the other embassy families that are here. It will be next Sunday afternoon (with solos, Suzuki group and chamber music!!).

  2. The concert went great. This is strictly from a musical perspective, I didn't enjoy it that much. And I AM allowed to say that because I played :) Playing Hoe Down from Rodeo was fun though. Also nervewracking :)
